DADDING BEHIND BARS
At Aussie Dadding, we believe that every dad deserves a chance to be a good father, no matter their circumstances.
Unfortunately, many fathers in Australia are separated from their children due to incarceration, leaving them with limited opportunities to bond, communicate, and be the role model they want to be. This is where Dadding Behind Bars steps in.
Breaking the Cycle
In Australia, about 40% of prisoners are fathers, which translates to roughly 30,000 dads currently incarcerated. Many of these fathers struggle to maintain relationships with their children while behind bars, which often leads to cycles of disengagement, trauma, and, in some cases, future involvement in the justice system.
By supporting incarcerated fathers and keeping them engaged in their children's lives, we can help them break these cycles and lay the foundation for healthier, more stable futures for both dads and their kids.
In fact, studies show that inmates who maintain strong family bonds are 13% less likely to re-offend after release. This is why it's essential to provide incarcerated fathers with the resources they need to continue parenting from behind bars.
THE MISSION
Empowering Fathers,
Strengthening Families:
The Dadding Behind Bars program is designed to help incarcerated dads stay connected with their children, develop vital parenting skills, and successfully reintegrate into their families and communities upon release. Our mission is to offer them the support they need to become better fathers—and ultimately better men—through targeted programs and resources.
Fatherhood doesn’t stop behind bars. Giving dads the tools to connect and grow, even while incarcerated, can break the cycle and transform families for generations.
